This is something that I have previously explored in a course throughout my studies of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and it seems to intertwine into EDC 3100 with the integration of ICT in the curriculum. As our world changes, so does our learning and teaching styles to accommodate to the people our students are to become, and what the future holds for them. Across all areas of the Australian Curriculum it is an expectation that the ICT capability is incorporated into the experiences we are providing for students. Literacy is the bases of all areas of learning so it is essential that students are exposed to various forms of multimodal texts within the curriculum for students to be able to utilise these skills in their future learning and during the process of the development of life skills.
The New London Group clearly outlines the importance of students being equipped with multiliteracy skills and how the linguistic, visual, gestural, spatial and aural aspects impact upon how literacy is represented and how it can be interpreted in texts.
