Vygotsky Theory….

During my studies and prac placement of the Bachelor of Education (Primary), I have implemented the constructivist teaching approach to learning with students which relates to Vygotsky’s theory. As students in this course, we are expected to construct our own knowledge and understandings through our prior knowledge from previous courses that we have studied and our own skills and abilities that we have obtained over the years through play, research, trial and error and as society changes. Through this course, we work collaboratively with other students to establish a networking group who we can learn from by discussing and sharing each other ideas and exploring new ones. As a future teacher, I believe that this teaching approach is beneficial for students as they learn through a hands on approach in real world situations, which often are of more value and productive with students. Students are able to reflect on the outcome of their discovery and learning within their networking groups in an open minded environment. Alisia Cameron Feedly makes some very valid points in regards to Vygotsky’s theory and her experiences in teaching with this approach.
